Five dance acrobats turn the relation between bodies and objects upside down and challenge the laws of physics: This is «Screws» created by the Belgian artist Alexander Vantournhout. Objects enter into alliances with human beings and allow for new encounters and movements. The performers use weights, crampons, bowling balls and gravity boots for their kinetic journey of discovery on the Saffainsel. The spectators can follow their solos, duets and group choreographies round the island and choose their own perspective during this site-specific show.

Alexander Vantournhout trained at Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's school for contemporary dance, P.A.R.T.S., in Brussels as well as at the circus school ESAC in Anderlecht. With his company, not standing, he has successfully challenged the boundaries between dance and circus and the laws of kinetics for several years. For «Screws» he has cast an acrobatic dancer and four dancing acrobats who combine both disciplines to create a new and exciting theatre and body language. (mvh)
