Martin Zimmermann
Danse Macabre
SwitzerlandFor children and families
Adverse circumstances lead people to ponder on the presence of fate. «Danse Macabre» by Martin Zimmermann is about such an unlikely communion: Three social drop-outs live in a god-forsaken dumpsite. This quirky family is bound together by a struggle for sheer survival. And whenever life is at risk, death is not far away. The mischievous Mr. Skeleton, portrayed by Zimmermann, pulls the strings in this macabre game – springing surprises and introducing folly and tragicomedy.
Zimmermann’s success as a performer and choreographer is enhanced by a reliable community of with whom he can put his visions into practice. Many of his collaborators have been working with him for years – as is the case in «Danse Macabre». Tarek Halaby, Dimitri Jourde and Methinee Wongtrakoon, impersonating the three companions in fate, are all outstanding circus, theatre and dance artists and among Zimmermann’s favourite performers. And as almost always with this multi-talented artist, music plays an important part with Colin Vallon accompanying this dance of death. (zts)
