La Fleur (Monika Gintersdorfer, Ordinateur, Alex Mugler und Carlos Martinez)

TRIO – For the Beauty of It

Mexico  / USA  / France  / Germany

For once there is no need to explain things with words. Rather, we can experience self-empowerment through physical movement: That is essentially the approach of the three dancers from Compagnie La Fleur, which director Monika Gintersdorfer founded with the Ivorian choreographer Franck Edmond Yao in 2017.

Alex Mugler has won fame in the New York voguing scene. He mixes spiritual, sexualised and abstract expressions – wearing ballet shoes as well as high heels – and wows pop stars such as Rihanna as well as renowned choreographers such as Boris Charmatz. Carlos Martinez has learnt from scratch how to create dramaturgic moments for a common experience. He is affiliated with the sonidero culture of Mexico where a group of touring DJs entertain the public with the latest hits. Ordinateur, the third dancer, moves his feet with such precision that it has earned him the nickname Magic Feet. He continues to influence the Couper Décaler, a dance style that has emerged from the Ivorian diaspora in Paris.

«TRIO – For the Beauty of it» shows three dancers who represent varieties of clever and masterly bravado, unfailingly leaving the audience (and the competitors) in cities around the world overwhelmed. To experience them united on stage promises to be an absolute knockout. (zts)
