Showing without Going

An Atlas (Global Launch Event)

There are many reasons why artists make and present work from a distance. In 2021, Ant Hampton and Caroline Barneaud / Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne initiated «Showing Without Going» to collect examples of how live work can travel and be performed without the artists physically present. A working group was formed with artists, producers and curators from across the globe, and the project expanded into an «Atlas» to navigate and interrogate what is possible. It connects artistic approaches with a vast array of considerations. In an online event with a streak of liveness, the working group will launch and discuss this optimistic and generative tool.
